The flat landscape of the Maylands peninsula made it an ideal location for the Maylands Aerodrome, which opened in 1924. The aerodrome was a hub for early Australian aviation, hosting pioneering flights by figures like Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and Sir Norman Brearley. The aerodrome also served the Australian Airforce and the US Army Airforce during World War II. The aerodrome closed in 1963 as Guildford Airport emerged as the primary aviation facility. Listed below are the planes and people connected to the Maylands Aerodrome.
