MAYLANDS HISTORICAL AND PENINSULA ASSOCIATION

VH-UOO was a Vickers Viastra II imported from the UK by West Australian Airways.

Our Frank Colquhoun collection includes:

  • MHS/FC 205. February 1931. Maylands Airfield. One of the Vickers Viastra aircraft undergoing assembly. The first two Vickers Viastra were assembled in the Airway’s hangar. These aircraft replaced the Hercules on the Perth to Adelaide service, but were plagued with engine problems resulting in many forced landings. This image also appears on page 50 of Frank Colquhoun’s 2001 book Cockpit and Spanner
  • FC 208. B&W photograph. Aircraft – Viastra VH-UOO
  • FC 572. B&W photograph. 1931. Brooklands airfield, England. VH-UOO, one of the West Australian Airways Vickers Viastra II aircraft on flight tests. This image also appears on page 49 of Frank Colquhoun’s 2001 book Cockpit and Spanner.
