The Returned Soldiers and Sailors Imperial League of Australia (RSSILA) – later simplified to the Returned Services League (RSL) – formed after World War I to represent the interests of servicemen, who returned from war service overseas.

A Maylands Railways sub-branch of the RSL formed in the 1930s.

The women’s auxiliary of the Railway Workshops sub-branch of the R.S.L. held fortnightly dances in the Masonic Hall in 1931.

On 26 April 1970. R.F. Lingard (President Maylands sub-branch RSL) planted the Maylands Lone Pine grown from seed from the Lone Pine at Gallipoli.

in 2005, the Maylands Railways sub-branch of the RSL held its monthly meetings at the Peninsula Hotel and ran the ANZAC Day Service at the Maylands War Memorial.

In 2007, the Maylands Railways sub-branch merged with the Bedford-Morley RSL.

The MHPA now organises the annual ANZAC Day Service at the Maylands War Memorial.
