Roger was the MHPA Secretary for 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.
Roger was born in London in 1948 and moved with his family to Australia in 1949. Roger spent much of his childhood moving around from place to due his father’s work.
After leaving high school, Roger started his working life working part-time as a trade assistant at the Southern Cross hotel. he then joined the ES&A bank (now ANZ Bank). After his time with the bank, Roger moved to Western Australia to work in the iron mines. it was her he met is wife, Pauline, and they married in 1973.
Roger has been an active community member, being President of the Rotoract Club and Captain of the Malvern Harriers (a long distance running club). He then became involved in the union movement in the TWU and later became Secretary of the AWU. He was also President of the Fortescue National Football League and a boundary umpire.
Roger was Secretary of the Pilbara Marathon Club and Grand Master of the Karratha Hash House Harriers completing over 300 runs and attending interhashes in Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.
Roger moved to Perth in 1988 and has lived in Maylands for over 20 years. Roger has been President of the Maylands Residents and Ratepayers Association, involved in the People for the Peninsula group. He was a founding member of the Maylands Historical Society and its President for eight years. He was also President of the Peninsula Association just prior to its merging with the Historical Society. Roger was on the Committee of the Autumn Centre, is on the Committee of St Luke’s Anglican Church and is Secretary of the SAAB Club of WA.
Roger now works one day a week with community work taking up much of his time. MHPA values his experience and his commitment to our community.
