Frank Greenslade was the foundation President of the Maylands Historical Society. Both Frank and his wife June made many contributions to MHPA and its predecessor, the Maylands Historical Society.
Among other things, Frank campaigned energetically and successfully for the creation of Aerodrome Park in Maylands.
Frank Greenslade wrote Mitchell Amen, a biography of the lives of his great grandfather Reverend William Mitchell and his family. From 1838-1859, Reverend William Mitchell served as the first rector of the Swan Parish. He founded St Mary’s Octagonal Church at Middle Swan in August 1839 and All Saints Church at Upper Swan in October 1839.
Frank died in 2012. One of our rooms at the Old Police Station is named in honour of Frank Greenslade.
In March 2020, Frank’s ashes and those of his wife June (who died in 2019) were buried in the graveyard at St Mary’s Church at Middle Swan within a metre of Frank’s great-grandfather Reverend William Mitchell.

We acknowledge that we tell the stories of Noongar Country and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
