MAYLANDS HISTORICAL AND PENINSULA ASSOCIATION

Located at 2 Clarkson Road on the Maylands Peninsula and overlooking the Swan River,

Work on the original water playground began in 1979.

It was 1980 before it was assigned the name Maylands Waterland.

In the 2014-2015 season, Waterland had to be shut down twice

for urgent maintenance and water quality control.

In 2016, the Maylands Residents and Ratepayers Association was lobbying for earlier opening times at Maylands Waterland City of Bayswater held visioning workshops to explore Waterland’s future.

By 2017, Waterland still needed renovations.

By 2018, the ongoing operation of Maylands Waterland was no longer viable, and the park closed.

After a strong community campaign, the Council rebuilt the park at a cost of $4.4 m and it was re-opened in 2022.

Today, Maylands Waterland is the premier outdoor water playground in WA.

With beautiful wildflower gardens and lawns surrounding seasonal water features, Maylands Waterland is the perfect setting for a family day out.
