Margaret was born in Wagga Wagga NSW in 1939 and moved to Perth when her father was transferred in his job.
Margaret attended Methodist Ladies College in Claremont for 12 years and then moved to the Northern suburbs, when she
married in 1969. Margaret has lived in Maylands since 2000.
After leaving school, Margaret attended Business College and was then employed at a large Insurance Company in the City
before leaving in 1965 on an extended overseas working holiday for two years. After returning home in 1967, Margaret returned to her old job in a large Insurance Company in the City and remained there till she married in 1969.
She then worked part time as a Teachers’ Aide, Receptionist and Principal’s Secretary at a large Anglican Community School until retirement in 2000. Margaret has since been employed at Edith Cowan University as an Exam Invigilator.
Margaret has plenty of experience working in community organisations – The Girl Guides Association, Leader of a Brownie Pack, The University of WA Choral Society, Anglican Church Youth Fellowship and Church Choir, the Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship and recently as a Tour Guide for 24 years with the Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association,
resigning in 2011 after the passing of her husband Peter. Margaret is the Welcoming Officer of the Bedford Combined
Probus Club.
Margaret and Peter joined the Maylands Historic Society in 2001. They soon became interested in the history of Maylands
and were invited to join the Committee. Margaret served as a Committee member and the MHPA librarian to 2017.
