Keith Stone was the MHPA Treasurer for 2016/2017.
Keith was born in a Private Hospital in Eighth Avenue, Inglewood and lived in Ninth Avenue. Keith had two brothers and two sisters. He went to North Inglewood School then up to Inglewood School (now called Mount Lawley Primary), then afterwards to Forrest High for two years. On leaving school, Keith started a five year apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery. In 1953 he did three months National Service at Swanbourne, then two years in CMF – also played Football Amateurs for Mount Lawley/Inglewood, then Bayswater.
Keith started at the Midland Workshops in 1956 as a Wagon Builder. After nine years he moved to a new section – Reinforced Plastics – became leading hand, then Sub-Foreman. After that Keith worked for two years as a Quality Assurance (QA) Officer. The Workshops closed in March 1994. After that, Keith worked for the Water Corporation for three months in the QA Section.
He was involved with the Inglewood Ratepayers, being Treasurer for 25 years. In 2004, Keith started voluntary work on Tuesdays with three other volunteers at Subiaco Football Club, Subiaco old club rooms and Leederville Oval doing maintenance work and is still there with five other volunteers today.
Keith joined the Maylands Historical Society in 2000, became a Committee Member in 2004.
Keith and his wife Margaret have been married for over 50 years and currently live in Dianella.
