When Constable Ullman was appointed as the Maylands district constable on 1 July 1906, there was no purpose-built Police Station in Maylands.

Constable Ullman therefore operated initially from  a property in Eighth Avenue rented from Mrs Coxon for 15/- a week before moving to a property in Eighth Avenue rented from Mr Lannin for 15/- a week.
